The jewels of my English class

I was correcting some vocabulary exercises my students had handed in and I found some surprising ideas.
'When you want to show a mountain or a river on a map, you shake it.' And there I was, my red pen in my hand, imagining: A Geography class and everybody with a sift as if they were going to make a cake but instead of sifting flour they sift a map, until everything falls off and only rivers and mountains remain.
'When you arrive at the house, howl on the door'. Well, well, I imagine the scene and I can't help but smiling; but I burst out laughing when I read the next: 'Dogs whisper (or laugh) if they are unhappy'. There were two versions for me to choose. I was at a loss I couldn't make up my mind.
This was completed with an exercise on Irregular Verbs which included the following:
golpear: knock - bang - bang.
I take it that 'knock' is the infinitive and 'bang' the past simple and the past participle.
The moral of my story is 'If you haven't got a clue, take a risk'.
The positive side is that I didn't take it as work, I just thought 'I'm in a comedy programme';
otherwise, I'd have to ask for early retirement.
Anyway, I recommended my students to have a look at the following link for help
